A celebration of the big sneaker-The collaborations who have recreated the shoe and lift this most practical footwear to a world of portable art.
The ubiquitous sneaker is the canvas on which so many defies of conventions - artists, musicians, athletes and celebrities - have tried to make their mark and through the sneaker contribute to a unique identity and attitude among sneakerheads everywhere. Here are the best sneaker-Collaborates with the largest producers -Adidas, Converse, Nike, Puma, Reebok -with almost a hundred famous, notorious and lesser -known partnerships.
Study photographs in museum quality of each sneaker is accompanied by Visuals collected from the sneakers' archives, as well as Ephemera such as design sketches and drawings that illustrate the creative process. Author Elizabeth Semmelhack has conducted interviews with many partners, including a comprehensive Q&A with Chris Hill, design manager for Reebok, who has worked with Pyer Moss, Cam'ron and many others.
In his introduction, Semmelhack explores the story of collaborations, starting from the beginning with Jack Purcell, if Sneakers remains largely unchanged today. More than eighty sneaker-Cooperation is mentioned, including Virgil Abloh (ten styles!), Kaws, Pharrell Williams, Bobbito Garcia, Damien Hirst, Jeremy Scott, Eminem, Supreme, Chanel, Missoni, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, Dr. Woo and Fear of God.
